The hub of the health system, the medical secretary is the contact point for doctors, the medical team and the patients. Her main tasks are handling telephone calls, welcoming arrivals, planning appointments and managing all administrative aspects of medical records. She works in hospitals, clinics, private practices, treatment centres and retirement homes.

The secretary medical keeps the medical records: patient record, test reports, invoicing and correspondence with health insurers. She also transcribes dictaphone messages and orders medical supplies. Finally, she prepares, disinfects and tidies away medical instruments. The communicative aspect of her work is very important and requires precision.
